Middle & Upper School Journalism Accolades

Gulliver’s journalism programs continue to excel year after year, setting — and raising — the bar for scholastic journalism.

At the Middle School level, the 2019 yearbook “LIGHT the Way” earned a First Class rating from the National Scholastic Press Association (NSPA). The book was also ranked All-Florida by the Florida Scholastic Press Association (FSPA), garnering Special Distinctions in Reader Services, Concept, Writing and Photography, with an additional Mark of Distinction in Coverage.

Additionally, “LIGHT the Way” received Gold Medalist recognition from the Columbia Scholastic Press Association (CSPA) and was inducted into Walsworth Publishing Company’s Gallery of Excellence for the sixth year.

At the Upper School, “Truth,” the 2019 edition of The Raider Yearbook, earned NSPA’s All-American rating with Marks of Distinction in Essentials, Coverage, Design and Photography, making it one of the best student-produced yearbook publications in the country. This marks the sixth consecutive year that the Prep yearbook has earned this prestigious ranking. The book is also a recipient of FSPA’s All-Florida rating with Special Distinctions in Concept and Coverage, making it one of the best in the state.

A true reflection of the creative work of students in various departments at the Upper School, the 2019 Reflections Literary Magazine earned All-Florida recognition with Special Distinctions in Writing and Design. The publication is also a CSPA Gold Medalist, receiving All-Columbian honors in the Verbal and Design categories. In 2018, Reflections earned FSPA’s Sunshine Standout Award, making it the best among all literary magazine submissions in Florida.
