Many of our student musicians have taken part in district evaluations and festivals in recent weeks, taking their talents to the stage and excelling in their craft.
Forty three String Orchestra and Chamber Orchestra students in grades 6-8 participated in the Solo and Ensemble Festival, organized by the Florida Orchestra’s Association, as each student performed a solo piece in front of a judge. Seven students achieved the highest possible score for a Superior memorized performance – Superior with Distinction – while 25 students turned in Superior performances and 11 students earned Excellent ratings.
Participating in district evaluations, the Middle School Jazz Band received Straight Superiors – the highest possible honor. Click here to listen to one of their performance pieces titled, “Autumn Leaves.”
The Upper School Jazz Band also took part in a District Music Performance Assessment (MPA), receiving an Excellent rating, while members of the Upper School String Orchestra performed at the District Solo and Ensemble Festival. Students who received a Superior rating are now eligible to go to States in April.
