Cemre Sengul ‘25, a bright and ambitious International Baccalaureate (IB) student at Gulliver Prep, has recently achieved a remarkable milestone. Selected for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Student Scientific Writing and Review Training Committee, she stands out not only for her academic excellence but also for her leadership in various honor societies and clubs.

As the President of the Tri-M National Music Honor Society and the Music Club, along with her role as Vice President of the Math Club, Cemre has consistently demonstrated a commitment to her peers and community. Additionally, her involvement as one of two student representatives in the Alumni Association through the Student Council reflects her dedication to fostering connections between current students and alumni.

Cemre’s selection for the CDC committee is particularly noteworthy. Among only 13 students chosen nationwide, she is the sole high school representative from Florida. This competitive program aims to train future public health researchers, providing her with invaluable insights into scientific publishing and research evaluation. Over the course of a year, she will engage with real-world public health challenges, learning to assess scientific work critically and serving as a peer reviewer for submitted manuscripts.

Her journey will unfold virtually, allowing her to collaborate with fellow students across the country while balancing her academic responsibilities. As she dives into the training and begins contributing to public health projects, Cemre’s experience will enhance her skills and expand her understanding of pressing health issues.

This opportunity is not just a personal achievement for Cemre; it symbolizes the ethos of Gulliver Prep, where students are encouraged to explore their intellectual curiosity and make meaningful contributions to society. Her success reflects the school’s mission to empower students to lead and innovate in their fields, nurturing a commitment to making a difference in the world.

As she embarks on this exciting adventure, Cemre looks forward to the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead. Her dedication and hard work have already set her on a path to impact the scientific community, and the Gulliver community is eager to see where this journey takes her.
