Each week through our Faculty Spotlight series, we invite our community members to get to know Gulliver Prep teachers across every division. Last week, we introduced Middle School’s Mr. Cunningham, and this week, our Faculty Spotlight features Mrs. Alexandra Verdugo, Primary School Faculty. Read on to learn more!
Q: How long have you been at Gulliver?
A: This will be year six at Gulliver. My favorite thing about Gulliver is my team; I love working in Pre-K. We love to collaborate, think outside the box, and create fun and engaging activities for our students.
Q: What is one thing people would be surprised to know about you?
A: I studied classical piano for 10 years.
Q: How would your students describe you as a teacher?
A: My preschoolers would describe me as a fun and caring teacher, or they might tell me I’m “silly” or “cuckoo bananas.”
Q: Why are you passionate about teaching Primary School?
A: I have always worked in Primary; my youngest age group was infants and toddlers. Having studied early childhood development, I am very interested in how the young brain develops and using age-appropriate practices.
Q: What are your goals for this school year?
A: Despite the unprecedented times, my goal is to develop a lifelong love of learning for my students and that they create meaningful friendships.
