Celebrating Random Acts of Kindness Week
Primary, Lower and Middle School students, faculty and staff celebrated Random Acts of Kindness Week on February 10-13. Check out all the creative ways we show kindness!
In Sr.K, Ms. Maruchi’s students delivered notes to brighten other classrooms’ day, and with the help of Ms. Gonzalez, Ms. Keating’s students combined art and technology by bringing Valentine’s Day-themed artwork to life using the QuiverVision app.
Throughout the month in Mrs. Ramos’ class, Sr.K students have studied positive character traits through interactive read-aloud exercises. They then drew self-portraits and defined different characteristics in order to identify which character traits they most identify with; an exercise that helps students understand how character traits help us from the inside out to make a difference.
Middle School students got in on the action, collaborating with Primary School students to celebrate kindness by engaging in fun activities while incorporating Spanish vocabulary.
The Lower School participated in a Kindness Challenge all week long as daily “missions” were announced via Morning Announcements. Missions included inviting someone new to play, leaving positive notes, saying something nice to an adult, and helping teachers in the classroom.
Mrs. Concepcion led a morning meeting in Mrs. Anthon’s first-grade class focusing on ways to spread kindness. Students rolled the dice and greeted as many friends as the number they rolled. As part of the lesson, the class had discussed that different ways of saying hello were also ways of spreading love, cheer, and kindness. Most students participated by sharing hugs with their neighbors as they greeted one another. First graders also participated in the annual Buddy Lunch, where students brought lunches to exchange with their secret buddies.
Third graders combined a celebration of the 100th day of school with Random Acts of Kindness Week, challenging students to complete 100 acts of kindness. Each time a student completes an act of kindness, they write it on a heart-shaped cut-out and post it in the window.
