Elijah Leano ’26 had an extraordinary summer, marked by his dedication to music and his commitment to community service.
Elijah’s summer was highlighted by his internship at the Miami Beach Recording Studio, where he gained hands-on experience in recording and mixing, aligning with the spirit of exploration and innovation fostered at Gulliver. His role with the School of Rock’s traveling house band and his leadership in his own band, Nothing Wrong With Wet Socks, showcase his perseverance and adaptability—traits that Gulliver nurtures in its students.
A significant part of Elijah’s summer was his work on the Move for Martell charity event. Founded in honor of his grandfather, who passed away from cancer, this annual Walk/Skate/Bike-a-thon benefits the T.J. Martell Foundation. This year’s event will take place on October 5, 2024, at William Kerdyk Park in Coral Gables. Elijah’s dedication to this cause underscores the Gulliver value of empowerment. By combining his passion for music with his commitment to service, Elijah has shown how one person can make a significant difference.
Elijah’s journey illustrates how Gulliver’s supportive environment has allowed him to blend his musical talents with meaningful community impact. His efforts with Move for Martell demonstrate how a personal passion can evolve into a powerful tool for change, honoring an inspirational figure in his life and raising awareness for a crucial cause.
