On March 16, 2022, students, faculty, staff, coaches, and administrators prepared 3,224 sandwiches for the homeless during a Smiling Tummies Club sandwich-making event at the Upper School Campus. The sandwiches were distributed to those in need at the Miami Rescue Mission. Sunflower butter, jelly, bread, and sandwich bags were supplied by students and faculty in an effort spearheaded by Physical Education Faculty member and Club Sponsor, Yary Roman, and club officers Pietra Ingletto Wagner ’23, Grace Verde ’23, and Johanna Ernsberger ’23.

In its seven years of existence, Gulliver’s Smiling Tummies Club has provided more than 22,000 sandwiches for the homeless. The club aims to raise awareness of food insecurity in South Florida. The national organization by the same name was founded by Gulliver alumna Namilla Sanchez ’16, who also founded the school club.
